Numerous museums and a fortress in Giżycko

Giżycko had to be on the list of the most beautiful places in Masuria. It not only boasts magnificent lakes, but also an interesting history. The most famous attraction of the city is the already mentioned Boyen Fortress. This is a fortress from the 19th century, which played an important role during both world wars. It is excellently preserved and can be visited all year round. This provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of the region. Strolling through the nooks and crannies and shelters of the fortress will provide an unforgettable experience. Another interesting idea is to visit the Masurian Museum. There you will see unique exhibits - from antique costumes, through ancient tools, to works of sacred art. When you reach Giżycko, be sure to see the Revolving Bridge over the Łuczański Canal. It is one of the few structures of its kind to be found in Europe. It is an attraction in itself and at the same time a vantage point from which you can watch the ships traversing the canal.
